At ANKA, growth and impact go hand in hand. Our business model is built around both. Every project generates economic, environmental, and social value, measured with the same rigor as technical performance and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Here is how this commitment translates into action across our operations.
Energy becomes more than an expense: it becomes a driver of growth. New business activities, more competitive companies, and direct and indirect jobs: each project creates economic value in the communities it serves. ANKA puts this conviction into practice through its own business model, growing alongside the economies it serves. We bring the same approach to our clients by supporting Productive Uses of Energy (PUE).
Reducing its environmental footprint is central to ANKA's commitments, from participation in the UN Global Compact to carbon-impact certification (Gold Standard and the EKOenergy label). This commitment is reflected in every installation: solar energy displaces fossil fuels and biomass, avoided emissions are quantified and certified, and projects are financed through a blended model combining private capital and climate finance. From waste management and biodiversity protection to programs such as e-cooking, the same standards guide our work on the ground, benefiting communities and the environment.
Electrification opens access to essential services, including healthcare and telemedicine (e-health), digital education (e-education), and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Every project is developed with communities, respecting local practices and building skills through training and work-study programs. Gender equality is an integral part of this approach. It extends to the highest levels of the company, with a predominantly female Executive Committee, and is reflected in project delivery and field operations. To strengthen and expand this commitment, ANKA works with AKAJY, a Malagasy nonprofit organization established through its initiatives, and with a network of partners, including NGOs, universities, and development cooperation organizations working closely with local communities.
ANKA recognizes both its role in an evolving sector and the responsibilities that come with it. This perspective drives its engagement beyond its own projects: contributing to public policy, helping shape regulations and technical standards, and actively supporting industry associations, including MAREA, ARE, and AMDA. That same sense of responsibility underpins its participation in major international initiatives, notably Mission 300, which aims to connect 300 million people in Africa to electricity.
ANKA invests in digitalizing its operations to produce reliable, traceable, and auditable impact indicators. Rather than relying solely on self-reported information, data is collected in real time, consolidated, and made available to partners and funding institutions upon request.
